The Persian language (فارسی [fɒːɾˈsiː]) is one of the Western Iranian Indo-European languages. It is a living macrolanguage with ISO 639 code [fas] or [fa].
Persian is spoken by Persians, Tajiks, Hazaras and Aimaq people. This language is distributed in Iran and Afghanistan as well as some other countries. The total of speakers is about 65'000'000 (native and second).
Arabic script (Persian alphabet) is used for writing.
