The Burmese language (မြန်မာစာ [mjəmàzà]) is one of the Ngwi-Burmese Tibeto-Burman Sino-Tibetan languages. It is a living language with ISO 639 code [mya] or [my].
Burmese is spoken by Bamar people. This language is distributed in Myanmar and Thailand. The total of speakers is about 33'000'000 (native) and about 43'000'000 (native and second).
Burmese script is used for writing.
