The Khmer language (ភាសាខ្មែរ [pʰiə.ˈsaː kʰmae]) is one of the Mon-Khmer Austro-Asiatic languages. It is a living language with ISO 639 code [khm] or [km].
Khmer is spoken by Khmer people and Khmer Krom. This language is distributed in Cambodia and Viet Nam. The total of speakers is about 17'000'000 (native) and about 18'000'000 (native and second).
Khmer script is used for writing.
